Electronics

Electronics has been my life-long passion. Though I went to DeVry University, I was self-taught since 7 years old. So it goes, as a child, not yet to walk, I was called "The Radio Man" by a family friend. The story is I would spend hours on the floor, dragging the radio by its cord, and pulling all the tubes out and reinstalling them. I guess I was destined for the field. My first real plunge was due to 3 books, which I checked from the local library constantly - The Boy's First Book of Radio and Electronics, The Boy's Second Book of Radio and Electronics, and The Boy's Third Book of Radio and Electronics. They were fascinating for a young boy, teaching basic Electronics and providing useful projects. If I wasn't reading, I was scouring the alleys of Chicago for thrown-away televisions and radios so as to scavenge them for parts. From those parts, I built various audio amplifiers - a harbinger of things to come - RF

Ironically, except for a stint in TV and professional audio and dictating machine repair, I never used my education; rather a new field dropped into my lap - lift trucks. As it turned-out, I was a natural, rising to the top of my peers and ultimately starting and running my own successful business for decades. During this time, Electronics remain a beloved hobby. With a complete test bench and fully stocked parts resources, weekends were taken-up experimenting and building. At some point I became an Amateur Radio Operator - the perfect complement to my electronics addiction.

Sometime in 2010, I sold the business and looking to keep myself busy, took a job as an RF Technician for a local maker of RF amplifiers. Soon I was moved to the lab as an RF Engineer. It doesn't get any better than to get paid for doing what you love...
